A lovely tribute which we are sharing on behalf of one of our service users.
“CANConnect came into my life at a very low point early last year. I was hit by depression in the wake of losing my father towards the end of 2021.
For the two previous years I had been helping through illness, and through the toughest period for all of us: Covid-19.
His death pushed me into the darkest place I never encountered. Living alone after he had gone – I lived with him – hit my mental wellbeing hard.
I was put in contact with CANConnect via Breckland District Council after contacting them on a different topic.
Meeting Natasha, one of the Social Isolation Support Coordinators from CANConnect helped lift my mood, at about the same time I was beginning telephone talk therapy with the NHS WellBeing Trust.
While I still what I regard myself a work in progress, CANConnect have brought some light into my darkness, which I hope will move more into the background during this year. Their assistance compliments the help I received from others on the path forward.
While I have not taken up all facilities offered by them so far, CANConnect is truly needed, especially in remote rural communities where isolation can be so noticable for those in a similar position.
Just being there is a great feeling of reassurance from a team who have an understanding of the needs of individuals in their care.
I am pleased to contribute a testament of support for CANConnect and the work they do.”
