In CAN Connect, we like to get people out and about, however sometimes there are not enough activities that suit the times, locations, or interests of people living in small communities. We want to change that! We are looking for individuals who are interested in creating local opportunities for people to get together and enjoy hobbies within their local community. These groups will be run at a variety of locations and set up to support and encourage people experiencing social isolation and loneliness to get out and about.
Here are some ideas of groups we have in mind:
- Arts and Crafts
- Movie club
- Mental Health Support
If you enjoy any of the above activities, then please let us know. If you didn’t see anything of interest in that list, or you have a skill that you would like to explore how to share with others, then please also get in touch. We are very keen to discuss new or existing group ideas and are happy to give some of our time to encourage and support others to enjoy these opportunities.
We would like as many of our groups as possible to be peer led and really value volunteers in providing a supportive and welcoming environment. If you are over 18 years of age, patient, welcoming and have some free time we would love to hear from you. Training is provided for all our volunteers, and we work with the ethos that volunteering should be fun.
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the Volunteer form in our website. We’d love to hear from you!
